Assignment 2-1: Weekly Analysis

Finally the city of Cleveland has something to be proud of. LeBron James has turned all eyes in his direction as he hopes to bring a championship to the city of Cleveland. He has propelled the Cleveland Cavaliers to the best record in the NBA and also home court advantage in the playoffs. LeBron is trying to help all of us Cleveland fans forget The Drive, The Fumble, and The Shot. The hope of the Cavalier’s fans rides on the shoulders of him. To better understand LeBron, it is important to understand where he came from.

LeBron James grew up in Akron, Ohio. Akron is roughly two hours away from Columbus, depending on where you are trying to get to. He played his high school basketball for Akron St. Vincent St. Mary’s. During his high school days, he had ESPN televising his games, picture on the cover of Sports Illustrated, and the city of Akron in the palm of his hands. LeBron finished his high school career winning three state championships and winning Mr. Basketball for Ohio three times. After high school, LeBron entered the NBA Draft. Luckily, the Cavs got the first pick, and the selected LeBron James in the 2003 draft.

James has been in the NBA for five seasons now, all with the Cavaliers. He has numerous endorsement deals but his most lucrative is Nike. James signed a $90 million contract with Nike out of high school before ever playing an NBA game. He has his own clothing line and shoes. It seems like everything this kid touches turns to gold. It seems pretty hard LeBron to do anything wrong. Hopefully, he can lead Cleveland to a NBA championship and also stay out of trouble. The worst thing that could happen to him is he does harm to his name.
